SERIES 2: Correspondence, 1931-1967 Box 2-Box 4, 77 file folders The Correspondence series contains correspondence of Joye Harold Severaid to family members, colleagues, associations, etc. Materials include documents, handwritten letters, and cards. The language of materials are in English. This series is arranged alphabetically by folder title and is divided into the following sub-series, with folder contents listed on the subsequent pages: Sub Series 1: Personal and Family, 1931-1967 Includes letters from Severaid’s wife, Irene and other family members and close friends.

Sub Series 2: S.S.C (Sacramento State College), 1951-1966 Includes correspondence between Severaid and his colleagues and other Sacramento State College relations. Names include Martin Brittan, Thomas I. Gunn, F. Blair Mayne, Stanley W. Pretzer, S.S.C. Foundation, and Guy A. West. Topics include Life Sciences department, new science building, etc.

Sub Series 3: Charles M. Goethe, 1952-1966 Includes correspondence between Severaid and Charles M. Goethe

Sub Series 4: Learning Institutions, 1951-1966 Includes correspondence between Severaid and learning institutions, such as UC Berkeley, University of Alberta, Fresno State College, other universities, other state colleges, junior colleges, grade schools, and museums.

Sub Series 5: Mail Packets, 1962-1966 Packets were a gathering of scientific and environmental literature, pamphlets, sample writings, Sac Zoo Bulletins, etc. that were gathered by Severaid and sent to various people and organizations. Names included: I.S.U., Cons-Mat. Cons, Wildlife Review, UCMVZ, U. of Me., Dr. Benson, Dr. Hall, Gene, Banfield, Dr. Orr, and one with no name.

Sub Series 6: “Letters” Box, 1935-1945 Includes letters found in a box titled “Letters, 1935-1945”

Sub Series 7: Associations, Societies, and Groups, 1952-1966 Includes correspondence between Severaid and different organizations: Save the American River, American Society of Mammologists, Audubon Society, The Wildlife Society, etc.

Sub Series 8: Other, 1951-1966
