Series Description

This portion of the collection includes personal documents, including educational materials and diplomas, personal family photographs, newspaper clippings, and other personal documents chronicling May d’Marie’s life in Washington State, Denver, Germany, France and Sacramento. This includes her married life, educational career, career as a librarian, family history, as well as her participation with the Sacramento Community Housing Project. Of particular note are photographs of Europe in the years after World War II depicting the destructive nature the war had in Germany, France, and Italy. Additionally of interest is a scrapbook created by fellow Community Housing Project member Susan Barnhill chronicling the last years of as resident of the Community Housing Project as well as her battle with cancer, of which she passed away in 2001.
